On June 6th, Z by HP and Intel proudly presented the fourth installment of our Educational Innovator Series, titled “A Journey in Creative Technology.” This compelling session was hosted by RICK HACK, Intel’s esteemed Head of Media and Entertainment Partnerships. The event featured an in-depth exploration of the careers of two visionary leaders in the film industry: MICHAEL FORD, the Chief Technology Officer at Sony Pictures Imageworks, and MICHAEL LASKER, the VFX Supervisor & Creative Director for CG Features. Together, they delved into the pivotal moments and key projects that have defined their careers, showcasing how their contributions have significantly influenced contemporary filmmaking through groundbreaking advances in technology. Their insights provided a rare glimpse into the intersection of creativity and technological innovation, offering valuable lessons for the next generation of filmmakers and technologists.

Our third installment of our Education Innovator Series will be held in May at The Aster and will feature a a behind the scenes look at the blockbuster film “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire”. Christian Cloud will moderate a panel that will include members of the VFX team that brought the film to life using the latest in filmmaking and VFX technology.

Our second Education Innovator Series event featured an intimate conversation with three-time Academy Award winner and VFX legend Rob Legato, hosted by Variety’s Senior Entertainment Technology & Crafts Editor Carolyn Giardina for an in-depth conversation.
Rob Legato is a trailblazer in visual effects, with an impressive portfolio that has significantly influenced the visual aesthetic of numerous blockbuster films in Hollywood. His extensive credits feature roles such as Visual Effects Supervisor on James Cameron’s “Titanic,” Ron Howard’s “Apollo 13,” and Martin Scorsese’s “The Aviator,” “The Departed,” “Shutter Island,” and “The Wolf of Wall Street.” Additionally, Rob served as the Visual Effects Supervisor for Disney’s monumental productions “The Lion King” and “The Jungle Book.”
Rob captivated our audience through telling compelling stories of coming to Hollywood and building a fascinating career in VFX and directing. His personal accounts of working with iconic directors like Scorcese, James Cameron and Ron Howard were priceless!

The Infinity Festival Hollywood Education Innovator Series, presented by Z by HP and Intel, kicked off on March 7th at The Aster in Hollywood with a dynamic exchange of ideas between students and industry professionals.
